Beijing is ramping up efforts to improve travel services for international visitors, aiming to create a more welcoming and convenient experience with the launch of Beijing Pass – a multi-purpose card designed specifically for international travelers. Recent initiatives focus on streamlining processes, enhancing multilingual support, and providing easier access to information.
The Beijing Pass card is a versatile solution designed to provide international visitors with seamless payment options for transportation, tourist attractions, and shopping centers. Foreign visitors must present valid identification, such as a passport, to purchase the card.
The Beijing Pass card can be obtained from self-service machines and staffed service counters at Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing Daxing International Airport, Beijing’s rail transit system, and Yikatong’s self-operated offices in Dongzhimen and Xidan.
A standard Beijing Pass card costs CNY 20 and can be topped up at staffed service windows and self-service machines at rail transit stations. Additionally, users can conveniently top up their cards via NFC using the SilkPass app.
Currently, eligible citizens from 54 countries can enjoy visa-free entry to China when transiting to a third country or region. This travel policy has attracted numerous international tourists eager to explore the country’s unique blend of ancient traditions and modern innovations. Enhanced payment systems, bilingual signage, and other support services have significantly improved the travel experience for foreign visitors.
Beijing is leveraging these improvements to make travel within the city more seamless, aiming to attract more international tourists and strengthen its reputation as a premier global destination. The upgraded services are designed to provide a positive experience, encouraging extended stays and repeat visits while boosting the city’s tourism economy.
